LIS6 Overview |
LIS6 is a custom extension for ArcView 3.x. It is the core application to all other LIS6 extensions. Because it contains many of the functions used by
other extensions, LIS6 will always load in conjunction with them. The diagram below shows the connection so you might be able to make the connection. |

The LIS6 Project Screen |
There aren't many bells and whistles in LIS6. But it still warrants some attempt at a tutorial. |

The Map View Situation |
Here is what we call a "Map View." LIS6 provides two things to the Map View:   the [LIS Layers] menu and a Cheapo Print button. |

Mucking in the Map View |
From the Map View, you can pull down [LIS Layers] to get a list of themes to load into your map. Click on an item and that theme will load. |

More Mucking in the Map View |
Select an item from the LIS Layers list and it will load into your map. BTW: Those arrows are pointing to the TABLE OF CONTENTS. Good to remember. |

Loading Some Aerial Photography |
Now is when we load a "Tiled Theme." Again, a tiled theme is just a big theme that we've cut into tiles for easy storage and loading. |

Ooooo... Ahhhhh... |
Your map now has 2004 Aerial Photography in it. The bottom of the TABLE OF CONTENTS tells us that four images were loaded to cover our area. |

Make a Print Layout |
We've ditched the aerials in order to print a more readable map (for the sake of this tutorial). Now is when we click the Print button. |

Proceed... |
You will have some options on the paper size and orientation. Looks like we're going for the Landscape/Legal option. |

The Cheapo Map Layout |
Here is what we call a "Map Layout." Not to be confused with the "Map View."   This is the item that you will send to the printer (or export). |

More of the Cheapo Map Layout |
In the Map Layout, you can zoom the view in or out with the special buttons. |

Finish up the Print Job |
The final print process requires dealing with a few print dialogs. They are quite common and should be familiar to you. If not, may I suggest a computer class? |
